Map a client's office network and watch for outages

A task guide: the pages to use, in order.

Turn on LAN scanning in the Network Diagram, enable outage monitoring, add discovered equipment to Assets, connect the UniFi controller and review UniFi Monitoring, then subscribe to alerts.

Steps

  1. Set up scanning. Scanner & Monitoring Settings, then Save Settings
  2. Review the map. Devices appear after the next scan
  3. Turn on monitoring. Monitoring: tick On for key devices
  4. Add equipment to Assets. Add Network Equipment, tick what the client owns
  5. Connect UniFi. Cloud API key or local controller login
  6. Review UniFi alerts. Firmware, admins and open alerts
  7. Subscribe to alerts. Add subscriber and pick notification types
