What the setting is for

Language is a setting in the Lavawall® console, in the Account & users area. Lavawall is the RMM, security, and compliance platform from ThreeShield, built and hosted in Canada. About this feature.

The console can be shown in English (Canada), Français (Canada) or English (US). English (US) is the same text with US spelling. The French translations are new, so some pages are still English-only and show English text until they are translated.

How to choose your language

  1. In the top bar, click Accessibility and language. The button shows the language you are using now, EN or FR.
  2. In the Language section, choose one option (see the list below).
  3. Click Save. The page reloads in that language.

The choice is saved to your account, so it follows you to any computer. You can also change it from the Language field on your profile, which saves as soon as you choose.

  • Company default: follow your organization's setting. This appears only when you are signed in.
  • Automatic (browser and location): the console picks for you, as described below.
  • English (Canada).
  • Français (Canada).
  • English (US).

How Automatic works

With Automatic, the console decides in this order:

  1. French, if Cloudflare places you in Quebec, France or another mainly French-speaking country.
  2. Otherwise, French, if your browser prefers French over English.
  3. Otherwise, English (Canada). You get English (US) instead if your company uses US spelling in its compliance settings, or if you are in the United States.

For example, someone in Ontario whose browser is not set to French gets English.

On the sign-in page

The sign-in page has language links under the form. Your choice is remembered on that computer. It is shared with lavawall.com, so the website's language menu uses the same setting.

For administrators

  • Onboard someone in their language. The Add User and Users & Permissions (edit user) pages have a Language field. Company default follows the company's setting. Only an administrator who can edit users can change another person's language.
  • Set a default for a client. Add Client and the client edit dialog on List Clients have Default language for employees. Choose Same as the parent company (or automatic), Automatic (browser and location) or a specific language. Users set to Company default follow it. A company with nothing set follows its parent company.
  • Emails arrive in the recipient's language. Invitation emails when a user or company is added, and password, MFA reset and sign-in notices, use the recipient's own setting, otherwise their company's default. If neither is set, they use the language of the administrator who sent it.

Tips

  • Framework Official Documentation links open the publisher's French page, when one exists, if you use the console in French.
  • A language you pick yourself overrides Automatic and Company default.
  • If a page shows English while the rest is French, that page has not been translated yet.

Troubleshooting

Why is the console showing English when my browser is set to French?
Some pages are still English-only and show English text. Also check the Language setting: a language you chose yourself overrides Automatic.
Why can I not change another person's language?
Only an administrator who can edit users can change someone else's language. Anyone can change their own.
Why does the sign-in page not remember my language on another computer?
The sign-in page choice is remembered on that computer only. Once you are signed in, the language saved on your account follows you to any computer.
