Applies to organizations that collect, use, or disclose personal information in the course of commercial activity across Canada (except in provinces with substantially similar legislation: AB, BC, QC). Based on 10 Fair Information Principles.
Requires meaningful consent, limited collection, safeguards, openness, individual access, and mandatory breach reporting to the OPC. Enforced by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
