Browser notifications
Review the websites people have allowed or blocked to send browser notifications in Chrome, Edge and Brave across your managed computers.
What the page is for
Browser notifications is a page in the Lavawall® console, in the Devices area. Lavawall is the RMM, security, and compliance platform from ThreeShield, built and hosted in Canada. About this feature.
It lists the websites each person has allowed or blocked to send browser notifications in Chrome, Edge and Brave. Only the website address is collected, never the notifications themselves.
Allowed notification sites are a common way for scam and phishing messages to reach a desktop outside email, so reviewing them helps you spot sites nobody should have allowed.
What you see
- Search, Website (a searchable list; All websites clears it), Computer (All computers) and Show (Everything, Allowed only or Blocked only). They combine with each other.
- The table: Website, Decision (Allowed is highlighted, Blocked is marked as safe, and Ask means the browser will ask), Computer (opens that computer's page in a new tab), Browser, User, Profile, Changed and Last seen. Select a column heading to sort.
- When you view all your clients together, an Organization column comes first. A line under the filters says how many rows are shown, and Show more loads the next rows.
How to use the Browser notifications report
How to review the websites people allowed
- Open Browser notifications in the Devices section of the menu.
- In Show, choose Allowed only.
- Read the Website, User and Changed columns. Sort by Changed to see the newest decisions first.
- For a website nobody should have allowed, ask the person to remove it in their browser settings, or remove it through your browser policy.
How to find who allowed a website
- In Website, type the address and pick it.
- Read the Computer, User and Browser columns. Click a computer's name to open its page.
Tips
- Notifications are decided per person and per browser profile, so the same website can appear more than once.
- Look at Changed when a website suddenly appears: it shows when the decision was made.
- See also the Browser extensions report, which covers what is added to the browsers themselves.
Troubleshooting
- "Nothing found for the current filters."
- Clear the search and set Website, Computer and Show back to their first choices.
- "This report has not been set up yet. Nothing has been collected."
- Nothing has been reported for this console yet. Try again later, or contact support.
- A website is missing.
- Only Chrome, Edge and Brave on managed computers that have reported in are covered, and only sites where a decision has been made.
- "Only the first rows are shown. Narrow the filters to see the rest."
- Use the filters, or Show more, to reach the remaining rows.
- "Could not load the report."
- Reload the page. If it persists, contact support.
