What the page is for

Browser extensions is a page in the Lavawall® console, in the Devices area. Lavawall is the RMM, security, and compliance platform from ThreeShield, built and hosted in Canada. About this feature.

It lists the browser extensions installed on your managed computers, and whether each one can read every website. Extensions are reported every 12 hours. Use it to spot extensions that nobody approved, and to answer an auditor who asks what runs inside your people's browsers.

What you see

  • Search, Extension (a searchable list; All extensions clears it), Computer (All computers) and Show (Everything, Can read every website or Sideloaded or developer). They combine with each other.
  • The table: Extension, Computer (opens that computer's page in a new tab), Browser, User, Profile, Version, Enabled (Yes, No or Unknown), Installed how, Website access and Last seen. Select a column heading to sort.
  • Installed how is Installed by policy, Browser store, Sideloaded or Developer mode. The last two are highlighted.
  • Website access is Reads every website (highlighted) or Limited.
  • When you view all your clients together, an Organization column comes first. A line under the filters says how many rows are shown, and Show more loads the next rows.

How to use the Browser extensions report

How to find extensions that can read every website

  1. Open Browser extensions in the Devices section of the menu.
  2. In Show, choose Can read every website.
  3. Look at Installed how and User for each one, and decide whether it should be there.

How to find extensions that were added by hand

  1. In Show, choose Sideloaded or developer.
  2. Check each one with the person who uses the computer.

How to find every computer with a given extension

  1. In Extension, type the extension's name and pick it.
  2. Read the Computer, Browser and User columns. Click a computer's name to open its page.

Tips

  • An extension that reads every website can see the pages open on any site, so it deserves a closer look than a limited one.
  • This report shows extensions; it does not remove them. Remove them in the browser, or through your browser policy.
  • Each computer's own extensions are also on its page, in Device Detail.
