Saskatchewan Accessible Saskatchewan Act and Regulations In force 3 Dec 2023; reports read 24 Oct 2026
The Accessible Saskatchewan Act and the Accessible Saskatchewan Regulations came into force on 3 December 2023 (Saskatchewan Accessibility Office annual reports for 2023-24 and 2024-25, read 24 October 2026).
The Act lets government make accessibility standards on the built environment, information and communications, employment, transportation, service animals, procurement and service delivery, and the Regulations list the organizations treated as public sector bodies. Public sector bodies must publicly post an accessibility plan by 3 December 2025, review and update it at least once every three years, and follow the same plan development requirements as the Government of Saskatchewan, which published its first plan on 3 December 2024 and must consult persons with disabilities.
The Saskatchewan Accessibility Office receives complaints about non-compliance. The first accessibility standard was still in development when the 2024-25 report was written, so no standard was found in force.
IMPORTANT LIMIT: the statute and regulation text could not be read from the King's Printer, so the mapping cites the government's annual reports; the public comment process and the penalty provisions come from a law firm summary of the Act as introduced and must be checked against the enacted text. Private businesses are not covered by the plan duty unless prescribed.
